Mobile Device Security

We all know that there is potential for your PC/laptop to get hacked, but how often do you think about your smart phone? With mobile devices becoming increasingly sophisticated and commonly used, it is imperative to protect your device against hackers – not just for your personal data, but to protect your company as well.

4 TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR MOBILE DEVICE

1) BE SURE YOUR DEVICE’S OPERATING SYSTEM IS UP TO DATE.

It’s common to put off updating your phone when the latest software update pops up. However, these updates are crucial to addressing security risks in your device.

2) KEEP YOUR APPS UPDATED.

Again, this is a mistake many people make with their phones. You can avoid missing these updates by ensuring “automatic update” is turned on. Similar to your phone’s operating system, app updates include fixes and address security risks.

3) KEEP YOUR WIFI AND BLUETOOTH OFF WHEN NOT IN USE.

If you’re not using it, turn it off! It’s far easier for a hacker to connect to a phone that has open connections than one with them turned off.

4) BE CAUTIOUS WITH PUBLIC WIFI.

Since public WiFi does not require a password, it’s an easy target for hackers. Be especially careful if your passwords are automatically saved on your phone.
